Herding the Goat Rodeo

I'm short. I'm weird.
I'm the self-appointed Molly Weasley of tumblr.  I even have the Weasley clock to prove it. I often post examples of what happens when fangirls grow up and geeks reproduce. I'm a writer, but it's so much more fun to hide out here on tumblr.

Santa=Dumbledore That was me.

I've been known to refer to my family as, "The goat rodeo" and raising our kids as "Herding the goat rodeo." Hence the blog title.

GOAT RODEO
-noun
(North America, slang)

1. an especially chaotic, unmanageable and/or frustrating situation.

In all the interviews I’ve seen with Natalia Tena, she’s actually far more Tonks-like than the character she portrayed.
Initially, I was annoyed with her performance (Tonks is one of my very favorite characters), but the more I see of her, the more I suspect it’s the latter.
FWIW, I can say much the same for Bonnie Wright.

I need feminism … in pornography!  Women make up half the world population, and yet our sexuality is almost never represented in erotic imagery.  I need feminism so that female desire and it’s expression aren’t defined by the (male-produced) images out there today.

I immensely glad that when the Harry Potter movies came out, they didn’t come out with reprints of the book that have terrible movie themed covers. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love the movies, but the book covers are something that should never be messed with.

- Daniel Radcliffe, DH2 premiere.
YEAH SOUNDS LIKE A TOTAL ARSEHOLE.
I have watched Dan spend hours in the pouring rain talking to & signing autographs for fans, taking photos with them, being prodded and yanked and screamed at, and all with a smile on his face because he knows how much it means to the fans. Can you not imagine how exhausting it must be to be like that for ten years?
His job- yes, he’s just doing a job- as Harry is finished now and he’s moved on to others. He has every right to a bit of a break after that ten years of pressure. Yet he was still at the stage door every night after H2$; still signing for people whilst filming KYD. What he doesn’t have to do is put up with fans who are too disrespectful to care that he’s moving on. If someone disrespects Dan as an actor by calling him Harry or by turning up to H2$ in a Gryffindor scarf, why should he respect them as a fan? It works both ways.
Oh & btw actors by no means “have” to love fans; they have a choice of how to behave just like everyone else has a choice in how they do their job. It’s probably more beneficial to their career to be nice to fans but they have no obligation to. The contract that exists between an actor & their fans is that the fans pay money and the actor acts. Paying to see an actor act does not give you the right to demand anything else from them.

This!  All of it.

If Pottermore doesn’t start opening more of the books soon, I swear I will smack someone upside the head with a hardcover copy of Order of the Phoenix.

well get your book ready my friend because theres supposed to be long periods of time between each one. Im talking years. I don’t know if it’s been changed or not cause I dont keep up anymore but when we first started betaing it they said CoS would be out sooner but there would be at LEAST a year between the opening of each one.

On a side note, I actually used to smack people with hardback books. I’m pretty sure Carlos still flinches if I come to close with a heavy book (mwahahahaha)

I wonder if this confession is from an American.
In the American school system, twins are purposely separated.  There’s much emphasis on keeping them apart.  It’s believed to be healthier psychologically to have them form their own separate identities.  Having never attended or worked in a school system outside the States, I don’t know if that’s the case elsewhere.
As a mother of twins who aren’t in the school system here (we homeschool), I can tell you my girls actually DO spend much of their time as Fred and George were described—all the same classes, sharing a room, shared interests, etc.  They’re two different people, but very similar and nearly always together.
True, my daughters have some different interests and skills, but if a friend of theirs were to describe my girls and his/her interactions with them, it would look very similar to the way Fred and George were portrayed.
I completely agree that twins are two different people and should be recognized as such, but I disagree that the portrayal didn’t do that or did a disservice to Fred and George.

Surviving the World comic by Dante Shepherd. Text reads: “If it is harder and scarier for you to explain to your children why some people love each other than for you to explain to your children why some people should be treated less than equal, you’re doing it wrong.” Beside the picture, Dante stands with his three-week old baby in his arms, pretending to be lecturing it.

They were both teachers who used bullying tactics. And that is never right, no matter who they loved.

I don’t understand how anyone who knows the story can draw parallels between these two.

Fantastic point.

I’ve been so hung up on the, “Why must we ship every male/female friendship,” aspect of it that I didn’t even consider that.

FWIW, my best friend in college was male. I loved him dearly.  We tried having a relationship and not only did it not work out, but it tore us apart.  We haven’t spoken in 15 years.  I love my husband dearly and know he and I belong together, but that doesn’t change the fact that I still miss my best friend.

Romione is my OTP because I love Ron and Hermione together and I love how they compliment each other.  I’ve always admitted I thought it would be Harry and Hermione until the 4th book, though.  The thought of Harry and Hermione’s friendship ending like mine and my best friend absolutely breaks my heart.  So add that to the list of reasons why I’m not a Harmony shipper.  Not only is Romione awesome, but the thought of tearing Harry and Hermione apart is awful.
